We specialize in component level circuitboard repair of Apple products. Data recovery is simply a different type of component level repair. Component level repair is rarely attempted at a local level from small mom & pop type shops due to the high cost of equipment and extensive knowledge required to do the work, so it is frequently outsourced, which increases costs and uncertainty. Even Best Buy and other large stores outsource data recovery to specialized firms, often charging upwards of $2000 to recover a single drive.

How much will this cost?
It's impossible to give a precise quote without seeing your case. However, to give a basic idea, see below. Do keep in mind the + sign means that this is a minimum.
Hard drives: $100 for basic recovery, $200-$250 for serious damage, $400-$900+ for anything requiring lab level tools(clean room/PC3000/conversion/decryption).
SDcards/microSD cards: $100-$150 for basic, $250+ for any physical or logical damage
Cellphones: $300-$400 for drop or liquid damage. $400+ for any damage inflicted by inept repair technicians(long screw) that is above and beyond terrible.
SSDs: $300+
